You have probably heard (especially If you are on Instagram) that the Nordstrom Anniversary sale is HERE! It is one of the most anticipated sales of the entire year and for good reason. If you’ve never shopped it before or don’t know much about it, here’s why everyone gets so kicked up when it’s time for the sale and my TIPS to shop it!

MY TIPS FOR SHOPPING THE SALE
Fall Items at a BIG discount! - This is probably the biggest reason people shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Usually during the summer, you’ll find stores clearing out and discounting spring and summer items in order to make room for the fall arrivals. But, during the Anniversary Sale, Nordstrom discounts tons of new items for the fall that have never hit store shelves and it is the perfect time to stock up on fall and winter essentials, build your capsule collection, or score a $$$ designer item at a fraction of the cost.
Card Holders Shop Early - Nordstrom card holders also are able to shop the sale before if opens to the public for an entire week! This means that if you have a Nordstrom card of any kind (which by the way is free to sign up for and has no yearly fees) you get priority on all of the great sale items. The reason having a card is a big part of this sale is because the great items and deals SELL OUT FAST. Last year, Nordstrom didn’t restock a lot of items after the sale opened to the public so if you waited, you missed out. If you don’t have a card, it’s not too late to sign up.
When Can I Shop the Sale? - Everyone can shop the sale TODAY, Friday, July 19th starting at 12:30 EST.
How do I get the items I want? - The best approach is to know what you are looking for! Go through your closet. Do you need a new pair of jeans or want to update your fall jackets? Or maybe you are looking for new gym gear. Whatever, it may be, make a list before the sale and know what you want to buy. This blog post will show you many of the things that I think are worth purchasing this time around, but it is by no means an exhaustive list and many of the things that will be on sale, aren’t available to preview yet! So, especially if you are shopping the public sale, keep tabs during the week before of what is still in stock and what isn’t. Also, buy now, think later! I know it’s not typically the approach most take to shopping but with this sale and the fact Nordstrom has an amazing return policy (and free returns) buy what you think you might want and then figure out later if you REALLY want it! Chances are if you don’t, someone else will snag it!

SHOES
Who doesn’t love a good pair of shoes? In this sale, there are too many to count. With everything from mules to sneakers, these shoes are deeply discounted. For shoes, I have picked mostly versatile pairs that can be worn with many different outfits.
JACKETS/COATS/BLAZERS
I think the jackets and coats offered during the Anniversary Sale are hands down, my favorite items every year. Last year I bought three different ones and they became a staple in my fall and winter wardrobe. One item that was a big hit last year and is showing up again this year is the TEDDY BEAR COAT! I’ve chose some of my favorite teddy coats and other jackets from this year’s sale. And don’t forget, most of these come in other colors as well!
SWEATERS
Sweaters and especially cardigans are a big part of the sale every year. You’ll find that these items tend to go faster than many of the other pieces and there will definitely be new ones released when the sale starts. Everything from leopard print to bold colors is fair game for this fall and winter. Check out my picks below!
EVERYDAY BASICS
One thing I love to stock up on during this sale is everyday basics. These are pieces like t-shirts, thermals, camis, solids, etc. that can become part of a “capsule” wardrobe and can be worn over and over again. I’m recapping just a few but trust me, there will be a TON more available once the sale starts and like sweaters, these will go fast.
WORKWEAR
This year I wanted to feature some workwear - mostly great dresses that can be paired with a blazer or cardigan or worn on their own as a conservative but flattering look. I’ve also included a few more “fun” pieces in my picks. My workwear picks are geared toward a more conservative work environment because that is the reality of my profession and I sometimes find it’s hard to find pieces that still look feminine without feeling like they are inappropriate for the workplace.
JEANS/PANTS
This sale is a great time to stock up on your favorite jeans and pants at a fraction of the cost. You’ll find big name brands like AG, Paige, Good American, and more!
ATHLEISURE
What’s a good sale without some athleisure wear? We know we all wear it (I live in it) so why not find it for a crazy good price?
ACCESSORIES
You can’t have a great outfit without some accessories, am I right?! There’s some great hats and sunglasses in the sale this year so keep your eye out for those while shopping if you’re in the market for them!
HOME
The Anniversary Sale doesn’t just include deals on fashion, there are a TON of great deals on home items. These super soft bath towels are my absolute favorite home item in the sale, they will last you for years and your guests will think they are at luxury hotel! I’m also snagging this cute shower curtain for our latest bathroom renovation - the added tassels are so fun! And, my FAVORITE CANDLES EVER from Anthropologie are on sale too!
BEAUTY
Let’s round out this post with some awesome beauty deals! This is the best time to buy beauty sets and to try new products without committing to buying a large quantity. Or, if you LOVE something, you can snag great sets at amazing prices. My favorite YSL Lip Colors and Glosses are a steal!
